The Tenth Annual Summit meeting of political leaders of
China and the European Union was held in Beijing on 28th
November, and was attended, from the European side, by
the President of the European Council and Prime Minister
of Portugal, Jose Socrates, the President of the European
Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, the European Union Trade
Commissioner, Peter Mandelson, and, from the Chinese side,
by the President, Hu Jintao, the Prime Minister, Wen Jiabao
and the Trade Minister, Bo Xilai.
The 4th EU-China Business Summit immediately preceded
the political leaders' summit dinner and provided important
recommendations
to the political leaders, aiming to making the EU-China
business relationship more sustainable in the years to
come, and focusing on the following issues.
- Strengthening the EU-China Business Partnership
and Creating Mutual Benefits;
- Addressing Environmental Challenges through Innovative
Technologies
- The Role of Finance in Sustainable Development
- How SMEs can Contribute to Sustainable Development
The EU-China Business Summit was organised by the
China Council for the Promotion of International Trade
(CCPIT) and the European Union Chamber of Commerce in
China (EUCCC) at the request of the European Commission,
and the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic
of China with the support of BUSINESSEUROPE, EU-China
Business Association (EUCBA), Portuguese Industrial Association
- Business Confederation (AIP-CE), Confederation of Portuguese
Industry (CIP) and Portuguese Chinese Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (CCIL-C). |
